I’ll admit going to the gym in January is probably my least favorite time of the year. I’m a frequent early morning gym goer and in the winter the sun doesn’t come up until about 7:30. Not to mention it’s really chilly out so I just want to lay in my bed forever. Then there’s the influx of New Years resolution gym joiners. While I’m definitely team “you do you,” I choose one of the least populated times for a reason. I can’t stand when people insist on being right next to me when there’s 33 other empty treadmills in the vicinity. Believe me, you’d feel the same if someone insisted on using the elliptical next to you while talking on the phone every time they used it. Every. Time.
But enough of my complaining. Activewear has been a huge trend for a while now. It’s more commonplace to wear these outfits everywhere from the grocery store to brunch. Speaking of which, can we stop wearing this stuff to brunch? Either way having really stylish activewear to the gym makes it much more fun to go. I’m definitely not a ratty, old clothes at the gym type of person. But lately I’ve felt myself slipping because the holidays did a number on me, and I wasn’t feeling 100% great. I am trying to flip that down and reverse it so I went looking for some fit style inspo. It was not hard to find, and now I might have less of a problem looking good at the gym, but getting out of bed to begin with is a whole different story.
Oh my god, shut up. It’s still hot out. It’s only been September for 5 minutes. – Everyone reading this right now.
But just think of this post as an excuse to go shopping or something. Summer to fall is a weird time. It goes from being 100+ every day to being 70 overnight. It’s hard to make really good outfit choices because one second I’m a little chilly but by 4pm I’m sweating like crazy. There are tons of suggestions on what to do in order to transition a wardrobe between seasons. Keep wearing your favorite sundress but toss on a cardigan (duh). Wear sweaters with shorts. Change out your cute sandals for ankle boots although I actually saw Glamour magazine making a case for wearing your sandals. To each their own I suppose.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially back at Starbucks which means fall is almost here. Okay maybe it’s only the beginning of September and still an average of 106 degrees outside daily, but fall is coming. Even my local Target got in on the action albeit prematurely by featuring three straight mini aisles of pumpkin flavored goods (which had been completely ransacked). I already bought pumpkin spice coffee creamer and I am ready to be rocking sweaters daily.
I’ve already been wearing light, baggy sweaters since about Sunday because I got the most horrible back sunburn over Labor Day. It’s been my saving grace and protection from the sun. Sweaters are my absolute favorite item of clothing because they can be casual or dressed up. There are so many styles to choose from, and they keep you warm. There’s even some materials and cuts that can be worn during the transitional time between summer and fall. Or if you live in Arizona, just the days until suddenly one day its cold and you don’t know how that happened.

Ah, Labor Day. The unofficial end of summer is finally here. Too bad the Arizona heat won’t be out of here for at least another month. But it’s time to fully embrace the end of summer and fill the final days with fun activities. There are BBQs, beaches, lakes, boats, picnics, and so many other things to do. I have some really fun plans this weekend, but I’m lacking a little in the style department. I’m just not sure what to wear.
I feel like I’ve been so lazy lately and living in denim shorts, yoga pants, and tank tops. I’ve just been really uninspired, hating my clothes, or down on myself whatever the reason my outfits have been severely lacking. Going into this weekend I decided I should probably give off some better vibes so I looked around for some end-of-summer outfit inspiration.
There’s a wide range of emotions one goes through when their friends begin to announce they are having children. First, you wonder how you got this old where married people are starting a family. Then you try to forget about it because there’s a tiny little biological fire deep inside you wondering what’s wrong with you. Why don’t you have a babies of you own? Time is running out. You don’t want to be the old mom in the elementary school class, you wanna be the cool mom. You better hurry. Next, you gotta buy all the little baby stuff and attend a baby shower. This inevitably reignites the baby fire of confusion, and the cycle begins all over again.
Cynical? Probably, but deep down we all want the same things: love, marriage, (sometimes) kids. Naturally it’s a bit hard to avoid the existential crisis that comes along with all of these life events. Everyone else seems to have it together, what am I doing wrong? Eventually I came to the conclusion, age is just a number and my life isn’t together enough (yet) for me to mess up a poor helpless child’s life. But that still leaves one frivolous yet burning question: What the hell do I wear to a baby shower?
I’ve been so incredibly bored with my closet lately. There hasn’t been a single day this week (except maybe one) where I haven’t reached for a light, baggy sweater and jeans. It might be a mood based thing (everything seems to suck) or maybe it’s just so hot & humid out I just don’t want to be bothered. Unfortunately, I have occasions coming up where surely people will not want to see my laziness/mood on full display. SO I went in search of inspiration. What is cool right now? What are people wearing? What do I wish I could pull off as some #GOALS?
Enter Martha Hunt. I don’t know much about her other than she’s a Victoria’s Secret model and a member of Taylor Swift’s “squad.” Whatever that is…After seeing an outfit I could really pull off, I fell into a complete rabbit hole looking at her style. Victoria’s Secret models are my favorite source of life inspo. I’m not even gonna lie I love doing Youtube work outs that claim I can get Victoria’s Secret abs, legs, or whatever other body part you can name. I WISH I could have abs this great. Anyway, Martha’s style is sexy and just plain cool. There were so many outfits I wanted to copy instantly. Most of them were simple but well put together and eye catching.
Below you’ll find some of my favorites and selected pieces to recreate them.
Midi skirt, sandals, blazer, sunglasses, leather leggings, denim shorts, camisole, flats, lace bodysuit (if you’re daring), crop trousers, metallic shorts, ankle boots, trendy bag
I’ll be straight up honest; getting dressed when it’s 110+ degrees outside is an absolute chore. We’ve had a heat advisory for about a week now, and despite living here my entire life I’m not used to it. There’s no way anyone can get used to walking outside and practically not be able to breathe. Enough about the weather, right? It’s summer and it’s gonna be hot in the Northern Hemisphere.
When you don’t feel like putting a ton of effort into getting dressed you come to appreciate stylish pictures on the internet. There’s just a lot of browsing Tumblr in my lazy Target shorts. (#honesty) There are only so many fabric options, colors, and ways to work with what you’ve got when you have three incredibly long months ahead. These are some of my favorite style inspo images I’ve compiled on the style tag of my Tumblr (Found here). They are definitely giving me the summer vibes I need to get my sh*t together and get dressed.
