When I’m Bored I Browse…

I won’t sugarcoat anything. January was a gigantic bummer. I had zero motivation to do anything. I’m not sure if it was just being over life’s bullshit or the existential crisis that inevitably comes with finishing college and wondering why I can’t get my life together if everyone else (seemingly) already has. But on the upside there’s a Zara gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

I can’t recall the last time I even bought clothes let alone went on a shopping spree. So I decided to browse Zara’s website and see what I could find. They just dumped a whole bunch of new stuff online so there was plenty of things to check out. The only upsetting thing is that most of it is for the transition period between winter and spring. You know where it’s still cold out, but sometimes gets warmer. The transition period Arizona quite literally never has and certainly doesn’t have this year.

Mini dresses are one of my favorite things to purchase. They always look stylish and, if taken care of, they can’t last a fairly long time. It’s my go-to when I need to buy a dress. Plus I can take chances I normally wouldn’t take on trendy things like florals. I love a good faux leather mini skirt, and I’m always trading off between trousers and jeans. None of these things I’ve chosen should really be any surprise.

Pearl mini dress, Crossbody bag, Dress with bow, Pearl sweater, Faux leather skirt, Military coat, Jeans with piercing detail, Floral mini dress, Jogging trousers, Leather effect leggings

Holiday 2017 Gift Guide: Pets

I am a dog mom through and through, and people are expected to spend 69 billion dollars on their pets in 2017. No joke. My dog Chloe is incredibly spoiled. She loves to wear outfits especially sweaters. She is an expert at pretending she didn’t make a mess when everyone knows she did (how else did the box of Diet Coke cans get knocked over?) And she really hates cell phones because they take the attention off her. Pets have become such a large part of our family that we tend to spoil them quite a bit like they are children.

At the holidays it is no different. While they don’t really understand the concept of wrapping paper they certainly love finding things within it. You know once we finally give up on them trying to open things themselves and tear it open for them. Hey, I can’t be the only person that does that, right? Either way, you’ll find this gift guide packed with Chloe approved (okay she would approve them if she could read or understand) gifts for dogs and even some for cats!

Fall Wish List

October might be my favorite month. There’s this feeling where everything is changing (yes, dying leaves are great and we don’t even have them here), and the weather finally becomes tolerable. There are tons more things to do and explore. So beware for the next month this blog is going to be filled with so many things I love including classic horror movies, chilly weather clothes, and Halloween.

First up my fall wish list. AKA all the things I really want to buy but probably shouldn’t. How could I possibly say no to the H&M jersey dress? They did send it to me in a marketing email as a Halloween costume so I mean…it serves multiple purposes. I’ve mentioned wanting a burgundy/wine colored sweater before and I think I’ll definitely be scooping up this one. The other items are just pretty little things that have caught my eye over the past few weeks. I’m currently working on a fall shop for the blog filled with things I love and recommend for the next few months. Hopefully that will be done and up soon.

What to Buy: Summer to Fall

Oh my god, shut up. It’s still hot out. It’s only been September for 5 minutes. – Everyone reading this right now.

But just think of this post as an excuse to go shopping or something. Summer to fall is a weird time. It goes from being 100+ every day to being 70 overnight. It’s hard to make really good outfit choices because one second I’m a little chilly but by 4pm I’m sweating like crazy. There are tons of suggestions on what to do in order to transition a wardrobe between seasons. Keep wearing your favorite sundress but toss on a cardigan (duh). Wear sweaters with shorts. Change out your cute sandals for ankle boots although I actually saw Glamour magazine making a case for wearing your sandals. To each their own I suppose.

Waiting (Impatiently) for Sweater Weather…

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially back at Starbucks which means fall is almost here. Okay maybe it’s only the beginning of September and still an average of 106 degrees outside daily, but fall is coming. Even my local Target got in on the action albeit prematurely by featuring three straight mini aisles of pumpkin flavored goods (which had been completely ransacked). I already bought pumpkin spice coffee creamer and I am ready to be rocking sweaters daily.

I’ve already been wearing light, baggy sweaters since about Sunday because I got the most horrible back sunburn over Labor Day. It’s been my saving grace and protection from the sun. Sweaters are my absolute favorite item of clothing because they can be casual or dressed up. There are so many styles to choose from, and they keep you warm. There’s even some materials and cuts that can be worn during the transitional time between summer and fall. Or if you live in Arizona, just the days until suddenly one day its cold and you don’t know how that happened.

Labor Day Style Inspo

Ah, Labor Day. The unofficial end of summer is finally here. Too bad the Arizona heat won’t be out of here for at least another month. But it’s time to fully embrace the end of summer and fill the final days with fun activities. There are BBQs, beaches, lakes, boats, picnics, and so many other things to do. I have some really fun plans this weekend, but I’m lacking a little in the style department. I’m just not sure what to wear.

I feel like I’ve been so lazy lately and living in denim shorts, yoga pants, and tank tops. I’ve just been really uninspired, hating my clothes, or down on myself whatever the reason my outfits have been severely lacking. Going into this weekend I decided I should probably give off some better vibes so I looked around for some end-of-summer outfit inspiration.

The List – Back to Class

There’s a line from one of my favorite movies, You’ve Got Mail, that goes like this:

Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand not knowing has its charms.

Now, sure, I don’t live in New York, and it’s not remotely close to fall around here. But there’s something about going blissful about going back to school. Since that film was released in 1998 I’ve always used it to encompass my feelings about the fall. Maybe it’s my Type-A personality or just the longing for a time where stress wasn’t a constant, but I genuinely love going back to school. Now that I’m entering what is supposed to be my final semester at college going back to class will be something I miss. Buying office supplies just doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

These are a few of the things I find essential to making it through the semester. Headphones to drown out the noise, comfy clothes for hours spent studying, and the supplies to keep everything in line. Okay, so maybe its an attempt to keep things in line. College is a whole new breed of chaos sometimes.
