Summer is in full swing and sometimes it can feel impossible to find anything to do. Not even find something to do but find the energy to go outside in the sweltering heat. Still there are some pretty cool things to do and places to try out. I’m not one for water parks or even floating on the river (been there done that) so these are some fun places to hang out this summer.
One of my favorite wardrobe staples is the camisole top. I can’t even begin to count how many I have, but surely I can say the answer is too many. I love how they look and how they can be worn. Whether its casually with a pair of shorts to beat the summer heat or dressed up with a pair of nice cropped trousers, the possibilities are endless. They are incredibly feminine and even a little sexy at times.
I’m a little skeptical of the woven bag trend. I see the appeal. It’s summer and they just scream summer. They are the perfect beach bag. Some of them even look like cute little baskets. They have come back in style time and time again. They are classics, and there are so many different options.
But then again, depending on style, they very much give off a beach bag feel. Also, I don’t really like stabbing myself accidentally with a piece of wicker. I suppose the pros outweigh the cons in this scenario. Maybe I’ll have to give one a go…
Who What Wear has been steadily releasing a new pieces to their collection about every month now for over a year. It’s been hit or miss for a while now, but just in time for a summer wardrobe refresh they have just released the June pieces. I wasn’t really sure about even looking because lately it hasn’t really felt like anything I must have. All the tops just seemed the same with a strange material and the last skirt I bought couldn’t be worn anywhere that wasn’t 99.9% dark. My mind was changed a couple of weeks back when I caught some of the newer pieces in store at Target.
The collection’s goal is to be trendy, chic and street style ready pieces. The latest release has a lot of really on trend colors and fabrics. I’m talking florals, yellow, and even classic stripes. There are plenty of summer-centric items like the summer blouse and beach dress (which seems flirty and warm weather ready). They’ve added even more accessories and shoes this go around. I really like these slides, this clutch, and this circle bag (the new summer IT bag). So if you’re looking for some on point, affordable wardrobe additions check out the Nicole approved pieces below.
As someone incredibly type A with OCD just the thought of white sneakers is enough to give me a panic attack. Why? Because I will obsessively try to keep them in pristine condition. “But you own Stan Smiths…” yeah that I’ve worn…a handful of times, and, yes, they are incredibly clean.
That is why I have a love/hate relationship with one of the biggest shoe trends right now: white sneakers. It’s not just white sneakers, but pretty much solid white sneakers for the most part. The ultimate canvas for grass, dirt, and every other stain imaginable. I love white sneakers because they are so pristine, classic, and can be paired with just about anything. They add a little bright pop to the most basic of outfits. They can make the best summer outfits look cool and casual. It’s true I love a good white sneaker…but mostly in theory. Sneakers are destined to be dirty. But since it’s summer and there’s that rule about only wearing white until Labor Day, it’s time to fully embrace the trend. There’s always those Magic Erasers to clean them up right?
I’ve included a bunch of different kinds to match any style. There are pops of color for the scared of solid white crowd, textured, It-Girl approved, and even the classic Keds (for dipping ones toe into the water). Plus the Keds are the most classic summer shoe.
I haven’t been really been into looking for clothes lately. That might just be a #mood problem or maybe I just haven’t found anything I absolutely love. Even with H&M’s sale over memorial day I only ended up ordering camisole & a pair of sworts (shorts that are sweats) as if I could justify that or maybe I’ve just given up on life. Who knows. But that got me thinking about all the things I want to buy for summer. All those beautiful things my wardrobe is lacking and can be improved with.
Some are trendy pieces like a woven bag or solid white sneakers while others are classics like a striped boatneck and denim shorts. Gingham is a classic pattern (just ask J. Crew) that happens to be incredibly trendy this summer, but I can’t think of wearing it on anything except a button down (or maybe a nice dress). I really love this polka dot Zara romper because it looks like a really cute dress. By the looks of it I could really break up the monochromatic nature of my closet this summer.
