Saying “misters” feels a little strange, but in order to be fair, I just had to create a gift guide for the guys in our lives. Brothers, friends with great taste, or, if you’re lucky, a boyfriend or husband. They deserve a little bit of high quality love too especially when it comes to things they may not even realize exist. Let’s face it, some of them aren’t known for their quality choices, right?
This guide is filled with some interesting, unique, and thoughtful gifts. I mean, who else is going to enjoy a chocolate salami or a meat subscription box service? What I’ve learned in life are boys are pretty complex, but there’s a few universal interests. I just really enjoyed the idea of a lyric print in the shape of a record and Taschen makes some of the best books on design, art, and tons of other subjects. I am obsessed with the Studio Yonoh Perpetuum Calendar which looks like an old scale slider and has great wood accents. There’s also joggers, sneakers, and a beanie because if they are going to dress casual, they might as well do it well. No ratty clothes around here.

I was too young to fully understand what my parents were saying when they told me I was gonna be a big sister. I think once I figured it out the family photos of me looking less than impressed holding my new baby sister said it all. But really my sister and I were the only kids around growing up in my family for the most part so we got into a lot of trouble together. We may have had disagreements about who “borrowed” (stole) what from who and she may have been my guinea pig too many times (okay so it was real make up not play make up, mom. Sorry), but I always had her back. No one was ever going to tell her the truth about Santa or let her take the fall for breaking something she never even touched. That’s what makes sisters awesome sometimes.
Ah, I have such a soft spot for a good pair of ankle boots. I love them so much. Just boots in general. I was always jealous of all the girls I would see around campus with their cute boots on while I was stuck wearing boring ballet flats because I just couldn’t find a pair I loved. What a shame right? Well for the last few years boots have been my shoe obsession. I will find any chance to wear them. Nights out..weddings…just running errands. There’s plenty of chances to wear them and I’m not really a high heel kinda girl.
Now that fall is (kinda) here finally, I think I really need a new pair of boots. There are tons of cute new styles and trendy colors. Burgundy is my jam right now, but white boots are super trendy. My favorite, of course, are simple and classic black boots. They go with everything and never really go out of style. Plus, unlike white or brown, if they get dirty it takes me way longer to notice. Anyway, I’ve found a bunch of, what I think, are really cool boots for the fall season.

I think technically there’s only so many weeks of fall left making this post relatively useless, but I’m not really bothering to pay attention to that. Arizona really only has about two real seasons anyway. Since there are still plenty of fall time left, I put together somewhat of a fall shop. It’s filled with things I really love right now and things that just are great to have. It’s like Oprah’s Favorite Things only I’m not Oprah, and this isn’t a special segment on GMA.
Oh my god, shut up. It’s still hot out. It’s only been September for 5 minutes. – Everyone reading this right now.
But just think of this post as an excuse to go shopping or something. Summer to fall is a weird time. It goes from being 100+ every day to being 70 overnight. It’s hard to make really good outfit choices because one second I’m a little chilly but by 4pm I’m sweating like crazy. There are tons of suggestions on what to do in order to transition a wardrobe between seasons. Keep wearing your favorite sundress but toss on a cardigan (duh). Wear sweaters with shorts. Change out your cute sandals for ankle boots although I actually saw Glamour magazine making a case for wearing your sandals. To each their own I suppose.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially back at Starbucks which means fall is almost here. Okay maybe it’s only the beginning of September and still an average of 106 degrees outside daily, but fall is coming. Even my local Target got in on the action albeit prematurely by featuring three straight mini aisles of pumpkin flavored goods (which had been completely ransacked). I already bought pumpkin spice coffee creamer and I am ready to be rocking sweaters daily.
I’ve already been wearing light, baggy sweaters since about Sunday because I got the most horrible back sunburn over Labor Day. It’s been my saving grace and protection from the sun. Sweaters are my absolute favorite item of clothing because they can be casual or dressed up. There are so many styles to choose from, and they keep you warm. There’s even some materials and cuts that can be worn during the transitional time between summer and fall. Or if you live in Arizona, just the days until suddenly one day its cold and you don’t know how that happened.
