(Even More) Who What Wear @ Target

Who What Wear has been steadily releasing a new pieces to their collection about every month now for over a year. It’s been hit or miss for a while now, but just in time for a summer wardrobe refresh they have just released the June pieces. I wasn’t really sure about even looking because lately it hasn’t really felt like anything I must have. All the tops just seemed the same with a strange material and the last skirt I bought couldn’t be worn anywhere that wasn’t 99.9% dark. My mind was changed a couple of weeks back when I caught some of the newer pieces in store at Target.

The collection’s goal is to be trendy, chic and street style ready pieces. The latest release has a lot of really on trend colors and fabrics. I’m talking florals, yellow, and even classic stripes. There are plenty of summer-centric items like the summer blouse and beach dress (which seems flirty and warm weather ready). They’ve added even more accessories and shoes this go around. I really like these slides, this clutch, and this circle bag (the new summer IT bag). So if you’re looking for some on point, affordable wardrobe additions check out the Nicole approved pieces below.

What I’m Wearing

A way back somehow (I’m not very sure how) I began receiving the Goop email newsletter. A long with links to interesting stories on their website the offer tips and tricks, how-to’s and product recommendations on fashion and style. At the very end of the newsletter there’s a section of clothing and accessories they currently love. I think it’s pretty cool because what they choose often puts together a really chic outfit with clickable links to buy.

So I’m super casually borrowing it for my blog. I can’t confirm the people at Goop actually use, wear, or love those stylish pieces, but because this is my blog I can confirm I do. I thought this might be a little different than an #OOTD because I want to share the outfits I’m obsessed with or just think are pretty great.

This outfit I wore to Easter dinner at my parents this past weekend. The birdcage skirt is brand new in the spring releases of Who What Wear’s collection with Target. My only gripe is the white is very…thin when it comes to the sun. No matter what color underclothes I tried to wear there was a shadow or they were visible. I would much rather have this skirt in black (it’s available online). Other than a pretty spring skirt the rest of what I chose were just classics in my closet.

More Who What Wear x Target Style

New month new Who What Wear collection releases to attend to. The newest releases from the collection are mostly holiday oriented which makes sense as holiday season is arriving quickly.

There are tons of pieces to mix and match for holiday gatherings, chic days at the office or to make daily life a little more sparkly. As usual my favorite pieces are the ones that I can use over and over without getting sick of them. The holiday collection has a few pieces I feel would best be saved for seasonal activities. For example, the sparkly tank top and pencil skirt. I’m not exactly sure my personal style is daring enough to try to pull that off for any other occasion. That said, they sure are pretty to look at.

Another one of my favorite pieces is the bodysuit. I finally purchased a bodysuit, but found it to be rather an uncomfortable cut but I’ve seen this WWW in the store and I must say I much prefer it to many of the others I’ve seen (or own). Plus the sizing with this entire collection is much more universal to actual bodies, so I have no doubt it even fits better than most.

Now let’s talk about that faux fur coat. I need it in my life, but living in the desert, how worth it is it?! Either way it is incredibly stylish and I am jealous of anyone who lives in a local where they can rock it.

Styled: Trench Coat

Trench Coats are classic closet staples. They may change fabrics, cuts, and embellishments, but they never go out of style. There’s a reason they’ve been popular forever because of their versatility. Beginning as a military staple, trench coats found a new life during the 1960s when mods and other hip younger people began wearing them as an alternative to popular coat styles. They have made their mark on our culture as the chosen outerwear for flashers and streakers. But more importantly have become icons in popular culture as the chosen outerwear of Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, David Tenant’s Doctor in Doctor Who, the bumbling Detective Columbo played by Peter Falk, and of course, Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

Burberry has the market corned on the dreamiest trench coats I have ever seen. No matter the color, length, cut, or changes they make they have the most lustworthy coats. But they are definitely out of the price range I feel should ever be paid for a coat (even if it lasts forever). There are plenty of stylish options that bring fall/winter outfits up just a notch. Get used to them being around, new cuts and takes on this classic were pretty big on spring/summer fashion week runways.

Styled: Classic White Tee

A few weeks ago I was stuck with a classic style dilemma. I hated everything in my closet and refused to believe I had anything to wear. But then I remembered one of the most basic wardrobe essentials: the classic white tee. The classic white tee is one of the most versatile pieces in any wardrobe because it can be worn with just about anything. It can look more office appropriate when paired with a chic blazer. It can also look casual when paired with jeans, and even looks good paired with leggings and athleisure wear.

My favorite way to wear my favorite H&M white tee is on my laziest days. Those days where I just toss on leggings or black jeans and grab a denim jacket to run out the door. I think basic tees of any color are essential to a wardrobe for this reason. They can be paired with just about anything quickly and require little brain power yet look effortless without looking sloppy. Basic tees also come in a variety of colors which is makes them a staple. The looks below are a bit monochrome because that’s how my style is, but swapping out a classic white tee for something a bit more colorful.

They don’t have my favorite white tee online, but this one is fairly similar: H&M White Tee

Monday Uniform 001

Monday’s are rough. So I always like to plan my outfits on Sunday nights and set them aside to make getting ready in the morning that much easier. I get to enjoy my coffee just a little bit more when I’m not rushing around. Enter what I call the Monday Uniform.

The Monday Uniform is usually the most casual or relaxed outfit I pick out for the week. It usually consists of basics that look stylish and comfortable because sitting in an office and commuting aren’t always the most fun activities. Especially after a fun weekend and when I’m contemplating the busy week ahead. The purpose of the uniform is to have some kind of go to that doesn’t take much thought because your brain power is better spent elsewhere. Plus, if the Monday Uniform is made up of my favorite pieces I know they make me feel confident and thus makes my Monday easier.

Coming up with a Monday Uniform is simple: choose something you love, something that levels your confidence up, and is comfortable enough to make it through the (seemingly) endless day.

Trend Report: Military Jackets

Looking forward to fall is my life philosophy now. All the stores are beginning to get in their fall looks and I’m super bummed there’s still a good month until it’s safe to wear any of them. But last week when Gigi x Tommy released their press images showing off a bit of the collection on thing caught my eye: the band jacket.

I just know this trend is going to be huge for fall. Whether you call it a band jacket or a military jacket, the idea is essentially the same. It’s a tailored fit with giant buttons and a decorative front. Think Beatles as the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band if you will. There are tons of lengths and styles to this trend. Long trench coat styles are great for colder weather option while regular jackets or crop jackets give an extra bit to chilly days.

When styling a military jacket I would keep the outfit underneath as subdued as possible. Anything else would take away from the focal point: the coat. I would choose a lot of basic colors (nude, white, black) to play up the strengths of the coat (the stylish eye-catching buttons). It’s also important not to load up on trends and wear them all at once which is why adding a couple at a time is acceptable. There’s no better example here than the backless loafer. I’m still really on the fence about those, but I can’t pass up mentioning them here.

I used a Saint Laurent military coat for these looks because it has a very military yet 1970s rocker feel to it. Another one I love (which is more pocketbook friendly) is by Zara.
